Slinger, WI – [February 18, 2025] – A Fire Suppression Tool (FST) played a critical role in assisting firefighters during a working structure fire in Stoughton, Wisconsin. The Oregon Area Fire/EMS District (OAFED) successfully deployed the device while responding to the incident, helping to control the fire before additional fire suppression units arrived.
On the evening of the fire, Oregon units were clearing an EMS call in the City of Stoughton when they were requested to assist with an active structure fire. A Chief Officer from Oregon Fire arrived on scene within minutes and deployed an FST, a device designed to slow fire spread and suppress flames in the crucial moments before full fire suppression teams can engage.
The FST used in this response was one of many donated to OAFED by the Oregon Masonic Lodge, part of a larger initiative by the Wisconsin Freemasons, who have provided over 500 FSTs to fire and police departments across the state. While the FST did not fully extinguish the fire, its rapid deployment contributed to a quicker knockdown by Stoughton Fire personnel, demonstrating its effectiveness in real-world emergency scenarios.
